Leaden Hall School vs Leehurst Swan
Wednesday 19th November 2008
Two Leaden Hall hockey teams played on the Salisbury Astroturf against Leehurst Swan School.

Team 1: We won the toss and chose first pushback. We did well and managed to get the ball down to the forwards pretty quickly to score our first goal. We kept possession for a while after that. Every time Leehurst got it down to their end, our incredible defence just whacked it down to our end and we managed to score even more goals. We didn’t have a push back for quite a long time. At the end of the first half the score was 4-0 to us. In the second half we carried on playing well with some fantastic defence by Ella, Annabel and Tats. Unfortunately Leehurst somehow crept through our defence to score their first goal. On our next pushback Bryony dribbled the ball past the defence to lead on to our next goal. In the end the score was 6 – 1 to us. I would like to say a huge thank you to Mrs Thomas and Mrs Belsey for helping us along the way and to Leehurst for the lovely match tea.

Team 2: We were playing for our first time on the Astroturf and the ball travelled much quicker! The game started well and Leaden Hall raced straight up the pitch and we shot our first goal which was quickly followed by five more! We had to run a very long way from one goal to another as the pitch was twice the size of our netball court where we had been practising.

We had a really good first half and by that time the score was 6 – 0 to us! The final score was 9 – 0 to us!
